We talk a lot about energy, cravings, weight, hormones and “slumps” and blood sugar often sits right at the centre of all of that. Short-term finger-prick glucose checks can be useful, but they only show what’s happening in that moment. The Zinzino HbA1c Test is different. It looks at your average blood sugar over the last three months, giving you a long-term picture of how your diet and lifestyle are affecting your body.
It’s sometimes called a “long-term blood sugar test” or just a “blood sugar test”, and it’s a powerful marker for future health.
What is the HbA1c Test?
The HbA1c test measures the percentage of haemoglobin in your red blood cells that has sugar (glucose) attached to it. The more consistently high your blood sugar has been, the higher this percentage will be. It reflects your average blood sugar over about 3 months, not just after one meal or one day.
Zinzino’s version uses the same dried blood spot (DBS) technique as the other tests a few drops of blood from your fingertip on special filter paper, analysed by Vitas Analytical Services in Norway. It is certified as an in-vitro diagnostic device under European regulation 98/79/EC and carries the CE mark.

Why Long-Term Blood Sugar Matters
Consistently elevated long-term blood sugar can:
Indicate that your body is struggling to regulate glucose effectively
Increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes over time
Affect blood vessels, nerves, eyes and other organs if left unchecked
The good news? Your daily habits, what you eat, how you move, sleep, manage stress and your body weight can have a big impact. The HbA1c test gives you a starting point and a way to track improvement.
Together, they create a Health & Lifestyle Assessment that gives context to your number and offers personalised guidance.
Your results are categorised into ranges such as:
Normal
Monitor more closely
Prediabetic range
High (needs attention alongside healthcare support)
And you receive a Health Score with feedback on areas like metabolism, immune function, brain function, gut function and bone & joint support, based on your answers and lab result.
How the Test Works
Order the HbA1c test kit.
Use the lancet to place a few drops of blood on the test card.
Let it dry, then post it in the pre-addressed envelope.
Register your anonymous test ID and complete the lifestyle questionnaire online.
In about 10–20 days, your blood sugar result and lifestyle-based assessment will be ready.
The entire process is done at home, privately and confidentially.
What You Can Learn From It
The HbA1c test can help you:
Understand how your current diet and lifestyle are affecting your long-term blood sugar
See whether you’re sitting in a healthy range or drifting into a “monitor closely” or “prediabetic” zone
Get personalised suggestions on diet, movement and lifestyle that can support healthier blood sugar patterns
Track how changes (like adding more fibre, moving more, reducing sugar, changing meal timing) affect your long-term result over time
It’s not a diagnosis tool by itself, and it doesn’t replace your GP or diabetes screening but it’s a brilliant early-warning and monitoring tool for health-conscious clients.
Who This Test is Especially Useful For
Anyone with a family history of type 2 diabetes
People with weight around the middle, sugar cravings or energy dips
Clients wanting to understand how their lifestyle is affecting future risk
Those already making changes who want to measure progress, not guess
People looking to pair an HbA1c test with a nutrition plan and Zinzino products (like ZinoBiotic+, BalanceOil+, Xtend, etc.) as part of an overall health strategy

Zinobiotic+ BalanceOil+ Xtend Supplements
Vicky’s Perspective
I like to describe the HbA1c test as a “future health snapshot”. It doesn’t just say where you are today; it hints at where things could be heading if nothing changes. For clients who are ready to take control of their health story, this test is a powerful motivator – especially when they see improvements between their first and second results.
And as always, I stay within my scope: this test is for wellness insight and lifestyle guidance. Any worrying numbers are always signposted back to your GP for medical follow-up.
