Heading Into Autumn & Winter – Time to Check Our Balance

It feels a long time ago now since I met many of you back in May at the wonderful Barbara O'Neill event at De Vere Cranage Hall Hotel, Holmes Chapel, hosted by the Good Food Project. Steve and his team put on an amazing event, and Cranage Hall was the perfect setting.

As we move into the darker autumn and winter months, now is the ideal time to think about the supplements we’re taking and whether it’s time to rebalance.

Such a privilege to meet Barbara O'Neill, a true inspiration in holistic health and wellbeing.

🧬 Why Balance Matters

Your Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio is one of the most important markers of your cellular health. Most people today are 15–20:1 out of balance, compared to the recommended 3:1. When you’re out of balance, your cells become more prone to inflammation, which quietly puts stress on your body over time.

Signs you may be out of balance include:

  • Low energy or fatigue

  • Brain fog, poor concentration, or low mood

  • Stiff or aching joints and muscles

  • Skin problems such as dryness, eczema, rosacea, or premature ageing

  • Frequent infections or a weakened immune system

🐟 The Power of Omega-3 – and Where It Comes From

Omega-3 isn’t just “one thing.” It’s made up of several different fatty acids, each with its own role:

  • ALA (Alpha-Linolenic Acid): Found in seeds and nuts (e.g. flaxseed, chia, walnuts). Good, but only a tiny amount can be converted by the body into the more useful forms.

  • EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid): Found mainly in oily fish (salmon, mackerel, sardines). Supports heart and circulatory health, reduces inflammation.

  • DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid): Also found in fish and algae (the plant form of omega-3). Essential for brain, memory, eyes, and skin health.

  • DPA (Docosapentaenoic Acid): A “middle” omega-3 that helps transport and balance EPA and DHA.

Because most modern diets lack oily fish or algae, many people are deficient in EPA and DHA — the most protective forms. Seeds and nuts alone won’t usually give you enough of what your cells truly need.

🌟 Zinzino’s Patented Balance Oil

This is where Zinzino’s Balance Oil is different. It’s patented and scientifically designed to:

  • Supply the full spectrum of omega-3 (EPA, DHA, DPA) in the right amounts

  • Combine with polyphenols from extra virgin olive oil, which protect the omega-3 from oxidation and help absorption

  • Rebalance your Omega-6:3 ratio safely within 120 days

Purity & Quality: Zinzino uses small, short-lived fish such as anchovies and sardines to minimise exposure to environmental toxins. The oil then goes through a multi-step refining and purification process, which Zinzino states is designed to remove heavy metals and contaminants. Their Balance Oil is certified free of heavy metals, giving you peace of mind that you’re taking a clean, safe supplement.

For those who don’t eat fish, there’s also an amazing vegan Balance Oil, sourced from algae and olive polyphenols, delivering the same protective benefits.

☀️ Don’t Forget Vitamin D

We’d all love the option of booking a GP appointment whenever we needed to check our vitamin D, but we know that’s not always possible. Zinzino’s Vitamin D Test is simple, accurate, and can be done at home all year round.

Low Vitamin D may cause:

  • Low energy and fatigue

  • Muscle aches or weakness

  • Low mood or “winter blues”

  • Frequent colds and infections

  • Poor bone and joint health

Testing and supplementing with the right form of vitamin D helps you stay protected through the darker months.

✅ By combining the Balance Test and Vitamin D Test, you get a clear picture of your cellular health. With Zinzino’s test-based, preventative approach, you can move from guessing to knowing, and from imbalance to protection.
